Every acre gets rated, not guessed at.
Your quote comes from two ratings we take on-site: how rough the terrain is, and how dense the growth is. Flat, open ground with light brush costs less per acre than steep ground choked with cedar — that’s the honest cost of the work, not an upsell. Two properties the same size, even in the same neighborhood, can quote very differently once we’ve actually walked them.
Terrain & Growth Density
Easy, flat ground with light brush is the base rate. Steeper terrain and heavier cedar or sapling density raise the per-acre price — each factor rated independently, then combined into your number.
Tree Size
Stems under 6″ are already covered in the base rate. A noticeable share of 6-12″ trees adds a modest per-acre charge for the extra time. Anything over 12″, or a specialty removal, gets quoted separately at $800 per tree minimum — that’s outside normal mulching scope.
Site Access
Standard access — staging close to the work area, a normal gate and approach — costs nothing extra. Moderate access issues (150-500 ft of travel, a tight gate, minor staging limits) add $300 per acre or a $750 flat fee on small jobs. Difficult access (500+ ft, multiple obstacles, a steep or soft approach) adds $600 per acre or $1,500 flat. We tell you which tier applies before we start — never after.

How much does forestry mulching cost?

What’s the difference between forestry mulching and traditional land clearing?
Traditional clearing cuts, piles, and hauls or burns the debris. Forestry mulching grinds everything into mulch right where it stands — no burn piles, no dump trucks, and the mulch holds your topsoil instead of leaving bare, eroding dirt behind.
Will mulching damage the trees I want to keep?
No. We walk the property with you first and mark anything you want kept. The mulcher only clears inside the marked area.
Do you haul away the debris?
No haul-off on mulching jobs — everything gets ground into mulch and left on-site to feed the soil. Storm debris cleanup is the one exception where we do haul material away.
