Ozarks Land Revival is Steve and Isaiah Tester. Father and son. Both United States Marines. We started this company because Southwest Missouri is full of good ground that’s disappearing under cedar and honeysuckle, and because we’d rather run a machine than sit behind a desk.
The Corps taught both of us the same thing, twenty-odd years apart: show up when you said you would, do the job right the first time, and leave the place better than you found it. That’s not a slogan we bought from a marketing company. It’s just how we were trained, and it turns out it works fine on a brush pile.
We’re based in Springfield and we work within about an hour of it — Greene, Christian, Webster, Stone, Taney, and Lawrence counties. Small enough that we can be at your place this week. Serious enough that you’ll get a written quote, a signed contract, and a real invoice instead of a number scratched on the back of a receipt.
Isaiah Tester
Isaiah has spent his whole life on the move, and he’s got the stories to show for it. He grew up a missionary kid in China, then landed in California with the Marine Corps as a motor transport operator — where he ran everything they’d put him behind without a single incident, which is how he ended up in the licensing office certifying other operators.
Since then: Iowa, Ohio, and now Springfield, with two years selling RVs up to top performer nationwide, a family and youth pastor role, summer camp ministry, and real estate along the way. Every one of those jobs kept him around people and got his hands dirty. Land clearing is the first one that does both at once.
Off the clock he’s in the woods, under a hood, or on something loud with two wheels, and he’s a family man before he’s anything else. The calling never changed. The venue did. He’s done traveling now — planting roots in Springfield while ripping up yours — and he runs this business the same way he’d run anything else worth doing: God first, people second, business third.
Steve Tester
After five years in the U.S. Marine Corps building leaders to make a difference, Steve spent the next two decades helping leaders build healthy organizations in the U.S. and overseas—working as a missionary in Southwest China, serving unreached tribal groups and training ministry leadership, running a cross‑cultural business, supporting the house church movement, and then serving as Chief People Officer stateside for a fast-growing construction company.
He signed on with his son to start Ozarks Land Revival because he believes all profitable labor is an act of worship and that every stump, hillside, and overgrown acre belongs to a family with a story and a future.
For Steve, people matter most, and this business is a way to bring Marine‑level discipline, clear communication, integrity, and genuine care to neighbors in the Ozarks who want their land to serve the next generation. Along the way, he hopes to build relationships that serve a lasting Kingdom purpose.
Justin Beaver
Justin Beaver has been in land clearing for roughly six thousand years and has the teeth to prove it. He came up doing freelance timber work along the James River, where he dropped more hardwood in a day than any operator in Greene County and hauled off precisely none of it, on the grounds that hauling is somebody else’s job.
He joined Ozarks Land Revival the way the best hires do — he was already on the property and would not leave. He does not hold a CDL. He has never been cleared to operate the mulcher. He is banned from Lake Springfield and will not discuss it.
What he brings to the crew is institutional knowledge nobody can match, extremely strong opinions about cedar, and a standing objection to hauling debris off a clearing job — which, in fairness, is how we ended up doing it his way.
God first. People second. Business third.
That order isn’t decoration. It’s how the quotes get written and how the jobs get run.
It means we’ll tell you when mulching isn’t what your property needs. It means the price on your estimate is the price we quoted, and if the scope changes you hear it from us before the work happens. It means if we’re not the right outfit for your job, you’ll hear that from us before you hear it from your wallet.
Isaiah spent years in full-time ministry and never stopped thinking of the work that way — the venue changed, the calling didn’t. Steve believes all profitable labor is an act of worship. Between the two of them, that adds up to a company that would rather lose a bid than oversell one.
It’s a family business, down to the four-year-old.
Steve’s the “father” half of this company, and calling it a family business undersells it a little. He’s got ten kids, ages 10 to 30 — eight biological, plus two adopted sons with special needs who are every bit as much a part of this family as the rest. Isaiah’s the oldest. Four are married now, with five grandkids and a sixth on the way. Five are still under the roof; five have places of their own. It’s a full house, always has been, and it just happens to also run a mulcher.
Isaiah’s the “son” half, and his side comes with three more Testers already on the payroll. Halle, his wife, has an actual graphic design degree and the official title of Vibe Check Director. Every logo, color, and yard sign you’ve seen came through her. She is the only reason any of this looks like a company instead of a guy with a truck.
Gryffin, 6, and Indy, 4, are on stump bounty. They spot one from the truck, and if it gets ground, they collect five dollars. Business has been good for them. Indy plans to drive trucks when she grows up, which her father takes as a serious professional endorsement.
There’s also a bearded dragon. Nobody quite remembers whose idea that was.
